Clinical Study Promotes Diabetic Meal Plans
California Fresh and Fit has long known the benefits of a healthy meal plan delivery program for people who wish to lose weight, maximize athletic performance and manage food allergies and diabetes. We are excited to announce results from a recent clinical study that reveals the health benefits of a meal delivery program for people with diabetes.
Reuters reports that results from a clinical study conducted at the Temple University School of Medicine and published September 8, 2009 in the journal Postgraduate Medicine, show that a pre-packaged, portion controlled diet meal plan helped overweight individuals with type 2 diabetes lose significantly more weight and reduce their A1C test scores (a 90-day measure of blood sugar control) by almost a full point greater than those following a standard hospital-based diabetes support and education program. According to the article, this weight loss was also associated with significant reductions in blood pressure, cholesterol and waist circumference.
"Weight loss brings impressive improvement in the control of diabetes," said Dr. Foster, the principal investigator of the study. "People with diabetes have to perform mental gymnastics when they attempt to lose weight-balancing carbohydrates, fats and proteins with overall calories, all while keeping their blood sugar in check. The complexity can cause many people to become frustrated and give up."
Dr. Foster continues to explain that a pre-packaged and portion controlled diabetes meal plan seems to alleviate those potential diet pitfalls. With more than 23 million Americans currently suffering from diabetes, it is no surprise that the American Diabetes Association has addressed the need for structured programs that emphasize complete lifestyle changes. Structured programs such as California Fresh and Fit offer clients diabetes education, portion-controlled meals and regular contact to encourage successful long-term results.
California Fresh and Fit is proud to offer a diabetic meal plan for people living with diabetes, whether newly diagnosed or living with the disease for many years. We are available to help you transition from feeling overwhelmed by meal planning to making healthy food choices that can have a positive impact on both weight loss and blood sugar control.
